Minnesota State Rep. Jim Davnie (DFL-Minneapolis), chair of the House Education Finance Committee, recently compared D-Day veterans to Antifa.
“I’m so old I remember when liberal teachers forced us to learn about Antifa in public school,” Steve Silberman wrote on Twitter along with an image of American troops storming the beaches of Normandy.
Davnie, who holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Minnesota, retweeted the comments.
Alpha News was the first to break the story, and reported that Antifa has a history of attacking police and journalists and intimidating elected officials in Minnesota. Most recently, Antifa was in the news for its violent assault of journalist Andy Ngo in Portland. The attack sent Ngo to the hospital with a brain bleed.
President Donald Trump said over the weekend that he’s considering naming Antifa a domestic terrorist organization.
“Major consideration being given to naming Antifa an ‘Organization of Terror.’ Portland is being watched very closely. Hopefully the mayor will be able to properly do his job,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Earlier this year, two DFL officials were disciplined for their “reprehensible” anti-military comments.
In one case, Laine Scheuble, an elected director for the DFL’s Sixth Congressional District Committee, suggested that Rep. Tom Emmer’s (R-MN-06) son would murder “Iranian civilians” as a U.S. Marine. Scheuble later resigned from his position.
In the second case, DFL staffer William Davis was removed from his role as deputy communications director after calling the new USS Minneapolis-St. Paul a “murder boat.” Davis is still employed by the DFL as a research director.
Gov. Tim Walz, who served in the military, said he was “totally appalled” by Davis’ comments and called on the DFL to “take appropriate action.”
